GFS in the news

We're very proud of how brilliantly our pupils are developing - and frequently welcome visitors to the school to showcase our approach. We're delighted that the GFS model is attracting national and international attention, and hope that it will be refined and developed by other schools as they build on parts of it.

Institute for Public Policy Research

The Evening Standard

We were thrilled to be named one of the Evening Standard's five 'new model schools' in London. The paper reported, of GFS, "there is a relentless focus on standards — and a determination to improve ... the school is now seven times oversubscribed"

Greenwich.co.uk magazine

In an interview with Greenwich.co.uk magazine, we were pleased that Nick Raynsford, MP for Greenwich and Woolwich, said "I went to the [Greenwich] free school two or three weeks ago. I was very impressed with the atmosphere, the ethos, the clear commitment to delivering high-quality education and the fact that this was a genuinely mixed group of pupils ... I think the quality of what they're doing there is very impressive."

The Department for Education

In a speech to the National College of Teaching and Leadership, the Secretary of State for Education remarked, "Our free schools policy is giving even more teachers the chance to make a difference where it matters. The Economist

"An inner-city school provides plenty of hope for British education ... GFS is too young to be inspected by the government watchdog, Ofsted—so it arranged an extraordinary inspection.
