In 2014/15 Mr Baxter's project was focussed around working with SLT and Heads of Departments to bring a robust assessment model into GFS. Assessment models are essential to ensure that students are making progress in their subjects. Unifying assessment cycles across departments enables GFS to provide parents with a clear understanding of their childs progress in the subject, as well as data which can be used internally to identify students requiring support as well as any groups or classes which may need additional focus.
For 2015/16, with the Appointment of Mr Spiers as Deputy Headteacher in charge of Data and Assessment, Mr Baxter has shifted and taken a lead on whole school Teaching and Learning for 2015/16. This year Mr Baxter is working with many staff from across the school to both develop their teaching practice and support them in developing the practice of others. To achieve this we have 10 INSET (training) days during the year, as well as staff training ever Thursday from 16:15 - 17:30. In addition to this staff regularly observe one another and provide specific feedback in line with the world renowned 'leverage coaching' model.
